Start time is 2:00pm, on Sunday, September 27, 2009.
Scenic course begins in Onondaga Park, goes through some of Syracuse's historic Strathmore neighborhood, around the Woodland Reservoir and up the watertower hill (with panoramic views of the city skyline), and finishes back in Onondaga Park. The course has some challenging hills (but not too tough) and some off-road cross-country elements.
There is also a free Kids Fun Run following the 4 Mile Race, with every kid getting a ribbon.
Other notes: FREE GANNON's ICE CREAM for every race participant. There will also be a Bouncy Palace, courtesy of Price Chopper, and free face painting for the kids. Hot dogs, burgers,and refreshments from Grateful Dawgz and Gannon's Ice Cream will be available to purchase.
REGISTRATION INFO: Registration fee for the Parks Run is $20, including race day registrations at the Onondaga Park Picnic Pavilion between Noon - 1:30pm. A student registration fee is $10, and a there is a Family rate of $30. Click here for Entry forms . Once filled out, the entry form can be mailed, along with payment, to the mailing address printed on the form.
Parks Run is part of the Syrathon Race Series, supported by the Syracuse Parks Department and Fleet Feet. Prizes are awarded at this Syrathon race include a Syracuse Suds Factory Gift Certificate, a Phoebes Gift Certificate, a Fleet Feet Gift Certificate, Brooks Running Shoes, and SU Football Tickets.... and a Grand Prize drawing for a LCD Flat Screen Television will be held at the series end (just register at the Syrathon table at each race). Last year's 1st place male finisher was Richard Terpening, with a time of 25:24. Richard is also a past winner of the Parks Run. Abby Crain was the 1st place overall female finisher in 28:55
